Career Options
- Microbiologist: Median pay $66,850 per year. Microbiologists study microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, algae, fungi and some types of parasites. They try to understand how these organisms live, grow and interact with their environments.
- Environmental scientist: Median pay $68,910 per year. Environmental scientists and specialists use their knowledge of the natural sciences to protect the environment and human health. They may clean up polluted areas, advise policymakers or work with industry to reduce waste.
- Medical scientist: Median pay $80,530 per year. Medical scientists conduct research aimed at improving overall human health. They often use clinical trials and other investigative methods to reach their findings.
- Zoologist: Median pay $60,520 per year. Zoologists and wildlife biologists study animals and other wildlife and how they interact with their ecosystems. They study the physical characteristics of animals, animal behaviors and the impacts humans have on wildlife and natural habitats.
- Chiropractor: Median pay $113,120 per year. Graduates who go on to earn their graduate degree as a chiropractor treat patients with health problems of the neuromusculoskeletal system, which includes nerves, bones, muscles, ligaments and tendons. They use spinal adjustments and manipulation, and other techniques to manage patients’ health concerns, such as back and neck pain.
- Podiatrist: Median pay $124,830 per year. Graduates who go on to earn a graduate degree in podiatry will provide medical care for people with foot, ankle and lower leg problems. They diagnose illnesses, treat injuries and perform surgery involving the lower extremities.
