We’re so excited you’re ready to take the plunge! All students regardless of background begin the application process by starting an application form.
When you start an application form, you’ll be prompted to create an account – this will allow you to take a break and come back to complete it later. This way, if you need to double-check something, collect a document or if you want to run your application by your parents or a guidance counselor to give it that extra layer of polish you’ll have plenty of time to do so.
Depending on where you’re coming from, you might have some additional paperwork to file along with your application.
If you’re applying as a first-time freshman student (not a transfer) you may choose to use Common App to apply to Bloomfield College.
If you submit your application through Common App, you will still need to create an account on the Bloomfield College application to be able to check your application status later.
Current High School Students and Recent Graduates
If you’re currently in high school or you very recently graduated and took some time off, you’ll also need to provide the following:
- Your high school transcripts. Contact your guidance counselor to request that the transcripts be mailed directly to Bloomfield College and they will take care of the rest.
- Two letters of recommendation from high school personnel. You can get letters not only from your teachers, but also from administrators, athletic coaches and club advisors.
- Your application essay. The prompt for this essay is given to you in the online application. Remember that you can save your application and come back to it later – so you don’t have to write this on-the-spot. Take your time and, if it’s available, lean on any parents, guardians, teachers or other adults who are willing to help you revise and edit.
SAT scores are not required to apply to Bloomfield College and if you choose not to submit them your application will not be penalized or discounted in any way. However, if you took the SAT and you’re proud of your scores you can choose to submit them and we will take them into consideration.
Transfer Students
Transfer student admissions requirements are a little more complicated than those for current high school students mostly because we need to account for how many college credits you’ve already completed, whether or not they’re transferable and whether or not you’ve already received a two-year associate’s degree.
Depending on where you’re transferring from, we may have an articulation agreement with that institution that’ll fast-track the whole process. Please see our Transfer Applicants page for all the details.
International Students
Just like all other students, your application process starts with the online application form, but there are some additional requirements for admission. All classes are taught in English so if your country’s official language is anything else you’ll need to provide TOEFL scores. Also, since high schools curriculum varies from country to country we require an independent evaluation of your previous education instead of transcripts.
Also, international students have significant requirements with regards to obtaining a visa and any additional paperwork that needs to be filed with the United States government. Please see our International Applicants page for details.
Veterans
While veteran applicants don’t have any additional application requirements compared to other Recent Graduates or Adult Learners, part of applying for your VA benefits takes place during the application process. Our Veteran Applicants page has more information about which forms need to be submitted to the VA and when.
Bloomfield College is a participant in the Yellow Ribbon Program – a program that provides tuition assistance for veterans that served after September 11, 2001. If you’re not a New Jersey resident, the Yellow Ribbon Program may allow you to pay the reduced in-state tuition instead of the out-of-state tuition.
