Program Learning Outcomes
The OSD supports an environment focused on reducing the burden students take on to gain equal access to curricular and co-curricular activities. As a result, students registered with the OSD will:
- improve their understanding of their rights to equal access related to their intersection with all elements of the College.
- understand all of the ways the OSD can support their access (e.g., educational programming, course accessibility letters, accommodated testing, collaboration with faculty, etc.).
- understand the role of the OSD in facilitating implementation of accommodations through engagement with the OSD versus direct negotiation with faculty.
- succeed at rates similar to or better than their nondisabled peers utilizing institutional measures.
- be able to identify and locate College resources.
- be able to list their accommodations and know their responsibilities related to their accommodations.

Disability Resource Center
Bloomfield College of Montclair State University is committed to the full inclusion of students with disabilities in all curricular and co-curricular activities as mandated by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment Act of 2010. The Office for Students with Disabilities (OSD) will assist you in receiving the accommodations and services necessary to equalize access. The OSD provides assistance to students with physical, sensory, learning, psychological, neurological, and chronic medical disabilities.
Registering for Services
First semester students and returning student new to the OSD (current Bloomfield student, not registered with the OSD), may complete an Application using the online system called AIM to register for OSD services.
After submitting the application, you will be directed to a new page where you can upload documentation. The application must be completed by the student requesting services from the OSD. Once a completed application and documentation are received, the OSD Director will review and assign an OSD Counselor who will contact you via email to schedule an intake appointment. Please allow 7-10 business days (Monday-Friday) for documentation review.
Requesting the Accommodation Notice
Students registered with the OSD must request the Accommodation Notice each semester in AIM. Requests are approved the week before course start dates and approvals continue daily during business hours throughout the semester. To request your Accommodation Notice:
- Students will use their Net-ID username and password to log in to AIM.
- In the left panel, under My Accommodations, select My Eligibility to view your complete accommodation plan. (Additional Note: Accommodations listed as ‘Internal Only’ will not appear in your Accommodation Notice.)
- Select My Dashboard to return to the AIM home page.
- Scroll to Step 1: Select Class(es) and select the checkbox for each class you would like to request accommodations.
- Click the button labeled Step 2: Continue to Customize your Accommodations.
Underneath each class in the area labeled Select Accommodations, select the check boxes for each approved accommodation you would like to receive in each class. - Click Submit your Accommodation Request to submit your selections. Once submitted, the OSD will approve requests beginning the week before the course start date.
Once approved, an email stating your name, CWID, course, and accommodations requested will be generated and emailed to both you and your instructors. Approvals continue daily during business hours throughout the semester.
Students can view the status of requests in AIM. Select Summary of Accommodation Request(s) and select the current semester. Click View and scroll to each course. Scheduled means your accommodation requests were received and are awaiting approval/delivery. Emailed means the Notice was emailed to your professor. The date and time of the email delivery are also listed.
