In an event that is becoming an annual celebration, the Korean students from the ITPS division hosted
a festival on the Quad that included authentic foods, a mock wedding ceremony, traditional Korean
dances, games, contemporary music sung in both Korean and English, and calligraphy.

"This ceremony celebrates education and Bloomfield College’s brightest and best,” began Dr. Marion Terenzio, vice president for academic affairs. At the Dean’s List ceremony, which acknowledges the accomplishments from the Fall 2010 semester, 299 students were eligible for high honors and honors. High honors are given to students who receive a grade point average of 3.8 or above; honors is given to students who have a grade point average of 3.5 or better.

With a grant from the Community Foundation of New Jersey, Amy Eguchi, assistant professor of education at Bloomfield College, developed a pilot program at the Pride Academy Charter School in East Orange, NJ. The program introduces robotics to children in the fifth to eighth grades during their after-school programming.
Three members of the Bestfoods Educational Foundation, Dick Bergeman, Rainer Mimberg, and Luis Schuchinski, were joined by administrators, trustees, staff, students, and alumni to celebrate the almost decade-long partnership with Bloomfield College. Over the past eight years, Bestfoods Educational Foundation has gifted the college with $2.89 million for student scholarships. More than 1,100 students have benefited from the Foundation’s generosity and many have pledged to continue the legacy of giving to those coming to the College after them.
In a combined event, PSEG Foundation presented Bloomfield College with a check for $25,000 for the PSEG Foundation Endowed Honors Scholarship Fund that will be awarded to deserving sophomore, junior, and senior students. Immediately following was the inauguration of the Honors Program Speakers Series.
LoVid, a collaborative artist team of Tali Hinkis and Kyle Lapidus, worked with Bloomfield College CAT students to develop the show "Immersive Subs", which opened in the Westminster Art Gallery on Wednesday, December 1, 2010.
Five students and a creative arts and technology instructor traveled to Korea in June of 2010 as part of the annual When East meets West class experience. Each year, Bloomfield College hosts students from Jeong Ju University in the early spring to begin a collaborative project within the creative arts and technology division. The course is in two parts and is not limited to CAT students, but open to all BC students who can contribute to a creative arts and technology centered project. Although there is an acceptance process into this set of classes, the scope of the project is determined by the skills the students bring to the class. This group had students majoring in video production, mathematics, English, creative writing, graphic design and animation.
In conjunction with the STOP program the Wellness Center and CSLE will be offering free HIV and STD testing on World Aids Day, December 1, 2010.
Bloomfield College Help and Hope for Haiti group is planning an Alternative Spring Break trip to help assist in the relief efforts in Haiti in 2011. The trip will take place during Bloomfield College Spring Break, between the dates of March 4 and 13th. We are currently accepting applications for 8 students to become part of the Alternative Spring Break Team.
The Frances M. McLaughlin Division of Nursing at Bloomfield College received word from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) that it has it has been granted a full, ten-year accreditation with no concerns or recommendations. The announcement was made to the college’s faculty and staff by Dr. Neddie Serra, chair of the nursing division and author of the accreditation process.
The Green Hearts Movement, Bloomfield College’s environmental club, is hosting a multicultural day on Saturday, November 13, 2010, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. in the Westminster Arts Center room 110. The public is invited on campus to enjoy the multinational offerings being presented by the students.

The semi-annual Deans’ List celebration is a much anticipated event. Students who have qualified for the Deans’ List in the previous semester are called to accept the challenge of continued excellence in their academics and in their future careers.
On October 27th from 1-7:00 PM a Blood Drive, run by the Blood Center of New Jersey, will be held in Room 1 of the Student Center. Donors will be given a $10 Gift Certificate. Also on Thursday, October 28th a Flu Clinic will be held in Room 1 of the Student Center from 1-4:00 PM.
Bloomfield College would like to congratulate all the students who have achieved Deans’ List status during the Spring 2010 Semester. They are going to be honored at a Ceremony on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at 1:30 pm in the Van Fossan Theatre.
Bloomfield College was notified through the offices of Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) that it has been selected to receive funding under the Predominately Black Institutions Program (PBI). The grant specifications are in the amount of $250,000 beginning October 1, 2010 with renewals in the same amount for the subsequent four years.
Bloomfield College was awarded a three-year grant from the National Science Foundation. Professor Keith Guzik submitted the proposal titled Registering Security: Investigating the Operation of and Reaction to the Public Vehicle Registry in Mexico.
The Frances M. McLaughlin Division of Nursing formally opened the academic year with the convocation exercises. Attended by sophomore, junior, and senior nursing students; faculty, and alumni, the event served to set the tone for the year with words of encouragement and advice about becoming a nurse.
The Community Foundation of New Jersey has awarded a grant to Bloomfield College to pilot the Young Creators project. The project will be an after-school program located at the Pride Academy Charter School in East Orange.
Bloomfield College continues to expand it global mission with the signing of an international exchange and cooperative agreement with South Korea's Seokang University. On June 3, Seokang University's president, Dr. Jeongsoo Kim, along with several administrators and faculty, toured Bloomfield College's campus prior to the signing of the agreement.
The evening was brimming with good cheer and great anticipation as administration, faculty, staff, select students, alumni, and honorary degree recipients and their families and friends gathered at the Maplewood Country Club to celebrate the achievements of those gathered.
The Kellman Course in the Humanities celebrated the conclusion of its ninth year with a ceremony marking the achievements of its scholars. Eleven adult scholars received certificates of completion, joining scores of scholars that have reentered the academic arena.
Bloomfield College’s 137th Commencement exercises were held on May 27, 2010. Heralded by the South Park and District Pipes and Drum Corps, headed by Bloomfield College alumnus Andy Dickson'96, 279 students marched up Liberty Street to the Quad to receive either a bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree.
