Upon hearing a student is majoring in Accounting, you may jump to the conclusion that excitement and glitz are not top priorities in their decision making.  When it comes to Hae Yong, you wouldn’t be more wrong.

Wanting to be close to the lights and action of New York City, Hae Yong Koh sent out his application, got his transcripts evaluated, interviewed for his visa, and finally hopped on a plane from Gwang Ju, Korea to pursue an Accounting degree at Bloomfield College.  Already a traveler of China , Japan , Russia , Singapore , Australia , and North America , Hae Yong has seen the world and loves being close to the big city and the opportunities it gives him.  Deciding between Missouri and New Jersey became much easier when he heard how quickly he could be in the middle of Manhattan , drinking coffee and taking in the city that never sleeps.

Hae Yong

While excelling in the classroom and getting involved in campus activities, Hae Yong has quickly become a familiar face to Bloomfield College students, faculty and staff.   Since arriving in the Fall of 2005, Hae Yong has made it a point to get to know as many members of the Bloomfield College family as possible.  Always willing to listen and always looking to learn, he rarely goes a few steps without seeing the smiling face of someone he knows.

If you can’t find him in a classroom, cruising for coffee, or down in the library, you should try the next train to Penn Station. After all, Hae Young is in a New York state of mind.

CSI: Las Vegas

Career Goals:
To become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and work towards my PH. D. Eventually, I would like to become a professor.
How do you like your pizza?:
Supreme, I want ALL the toppings.
Favorite Class at BC:
U.S. Taxation
If you could meet one person, who would it be and why?:

Hillary Clinton, she may just be the next President.

What is on your ipod right now?:

A lot of Kelly Clarkson.

Favorite Movie:
A Few Good Men, I must have seen that a million times.
Favorite thing about BC?:

“Human Relationships” with professors.  Coming from the large University system in Korea you only have lecture halls and little to no personal time with the professor.  Here at BC things couldn’t be more different, and I enjoy that.

Least Favorite Childhood Memory:

I spent half of my third grade year at a school in Oregon .  Speaking very little English made the year very challenging.  What little English I knew came from movies I had seen.  So when my teacher held up a picture of a shark and asked what animal this was, I screamed out “JAWS!”

What is an interesting fact about yourself ?:
I am trilingual. I speak English, Korean and Japanese.
What interested you about studying abroad?:

I took a summer internship in Australia and realized there was so much out there that I needed to experience.
