Shavon knew from a very young age that he would be going to college. That’s what his mother wanted, and he knew he wouldn’t disappoint her. Today, Shavon is a first-generation college student and is excelling in and out of the classroom. He has grown into a well-rounded and dynamic young man. He attributes a large part of his maturation to his experiences at Bloomfield College, but we know that there is a deeper driving force behind his seemingly endless positive energy. Shavon wants to see his mother smile when he receives his degree.

Shavon

During his time at Bloomfield College, Shavon has put together a very impressive list of accolades and achievements. He has worked as a Resident Advisor for the last two years and was recently named Resident Advisor of the Year. For the last three years, he has served as President of the Male Empowerment Network (M.E.N.) and received a Community Service Award for the organization's volunteer efforts. He has also served as Co-Coordinator for the Residence Life Development Program and Vice President of Organizational Affairs for the BC Student Government. In his free time, you can find Shavon reciting poetry at Westminster Hall or leading his intramural basketball team to victory.

What’s next for this tireless senior? Shavon was recently named President of the Bloomfield College Student Government for the 2006-2007 academic year!

In May 2007, Shavon will graduate from BC with a degree in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in English. Ever since Shavon stepped foot on our campus, he has been a model student, leader, and friend. We know that his character and determination will enable him to continue to accomplish great things and fulfill all of his aspirations. And when he does, you know his mother will be smiling.
