New Academic Programs
A new minor in game development will now
be offered and the Education curriculum
has been revised to offer many new courses
for Elementary /Early Childhood, Elementary
with Subject Matter Specialization and
Secondary/Subject Area.
New Center for Academic Development
Construction of a new 12,500 sq. ft. building,
attached to Schweitzer Hall, to house
the Center for Academic Development has
begun. Read more in our press release.
New Suite-Style Residence Hall
The College recently received initial approval
to renovate and convert an existing facility
into an 86 bed student residence. This
new suite-style residence hall will be
the first of its kind on the campus.
An additional new residence facility
will open within the next 4-5 years.
By fall 2010, approximately 500 students
will reside on campus.
Freshman Residence Hall Upgrades
Clee Hall has a fresh, updated look due
to several interior remodeling projects
and upgrades completed over the summer
months. And don’t forget the Clee
Hall Computer Lounge, on the lower level,
which houses 13 workstations with wireless
Internet connectivity in a lounge setting
combining formal workstations and an
informal lounge/café style seating
area.
Science Lab Renovations
Come to the Science Building and check
out the renovations to the labs creating
state-of-the-art teaching and learning
laboratories.
Student Leadership Initiative
Stop by the Student Center and get involved!
There you will find the Center for Student
Leadership and Engagement (CSLE), which
provides opportunities for student socialization,
leadership and co-curricular learning.
CSLE has launched a new initiative which
allows students the opportunity to develop
leadership, professional, and communication
skills with student leaders from 10 other
colleges and universities. This new program
will establish a peer network of over
200 student leaders across the State
of New Jersey.
Weekends at BC
The Center for Student Leadership and Engagement
will join forces with the newly elected
Bloomfield College Student Government
Executive Board to launch the second
phase of the “Weekends at BC” Program.
This program is structured to offer recreational,
social and educational activities on
campus during the weekends throughout
the academic year.
