Qualified freshman and transfer
applicants for the Nursing Program
are admitted provisionally as nursing
students. There are three classifications
of admission to the College for students
who are not R.N.'s.
DIRECT
For students entering the College
directly from high school. These
students are projected for a four-year
graduation track: one year of the
eight prerequisite courses and
three years of the nursing program.
They must enter the College with
the following:
- Completion of high school biology,
chemistry, and two years of college
preparatory mathematics, all
with a minimum grade of C.
- SAT combined score of 1000
(with verbal score above 500).
- High School GPA of B, with
80% in college prep curriculum.
- High School rank in top 1/3
of class.
- Two references from high school
faculty.
- Must place into ENG 106 and
MTH 113 on the College's placement
test.
PRE-NURSING STUDENTS
Students who are interested in
the nursing major but who have
not met the requirements for direct
admission may be admitted as pre-nursing
students. These students are projected
for a variety of graduation tracks
ranging from four to five years,
depending on what requirements
they need to fulfill. These students
will be eligible for NUR 225 if
they complete the CRITERIA FOR
ADMISSION within two academic years
of admission to the College barring
unforeseen or extenuating circumstances.
COLLEGE TRANSFER STUDENTS
For students transferring course
credits from other colleges or
universities. These students are
projected for a variety of graduation
tracks, ranging from usually two
years to four years, depending
on what credits are accepted for
transfer. The following stipulations
apply:
- Minimum GPA of 2.5.
- The transfer of sophomore level
nursing courses is subject to
evaluation by the Division of
Nursing.
- No nursing courses above sophomore
level may be transferred.
- For generic transfer students,
nursing courses six years of
older may not be transferred.
