Bloomfield
College is absolutely committed to the

Since the College’s founding in
1868, our mission has been to help first-generation
college students attain an education
as a critical stepping stone to realizing
their dreams. This college was founded
to train German-speaking ministers.
They in turn helped thousands of new
German immigrants make their way in
this country.
Today, Bloomfield College is serving
and educating a new generation of strivers.
They are true pioneers, often the first
members of their family to attend college.
Many come from other countries and cultures.
Some speak two or three languages. And
most live and work in the diverse neighborhoods
and towns that make up the mosaic of
metropolitan New Jersey.
As globalization picks up speed, this
human diversity is a huge strength—and
Bloomfield College is committed to leveraging
