Financial Aid

Overview

Your college education is one of the most important investments you will ever make. Whenever you make the decision, please know that the financial aid office is here to help you every step of the way. We will help you in making your education as affordable as possible. More than 90 percent of Bloomfield College’s full-time students receive some type of financial assistance. Consider the following:

  • Bloomfield College administers more than $14 million in grants, scholarships and loans annually.
  • Last year the average financial aid package was over $13,700 (91 % of the full-time day tuition charge).
  • Total awards ranged from $500 to $22,500 for the academic year.

The Office of Financial Aid is proud that our goal of providing excellent customer service to our students and parents is fulfilled through the dedication and commitment of the financial aid staff. We provide flexible services for our day, evening and weekend students. Financial aid counselors are on call each day to help with the completion of financial aid forms and to provide counseling relating to financial planning.

Financing a Bloomfield College Education

Need-Based Grants and Scholarships

At Bloomfield College, we make the cost of a private college education affordable for you and your family. Bloomfield College, through our need-based grants and academic, athletic, and community services scholarships, discounts tuition on average by 25% for full-time students enrolled in the day session. Many students are eligible to receive federal and/or state grants totaling up to $14,000. For a student receiving, for example, $9,000 in federal and state grants, since current tuition and fees total $16,400, the balance would be $7,400. The latter amount would be covered partially by a Bloomfield College need-based grant. The remainder would be an out of pocket expense, or covered by a student or parent loan.

On the other hand, day full-time students not eligible for these grants may be eligible for academic or community service scholarships. For example, with a 3.2 GPA and an SAT score of 1200 (combining the Critical Reading and Math sections), students would be eligible for a Trustee Scholarship that would reduce the tuition cost by $8,500 leaving an out-of-pocket expense or loan borrowing amount of $7,900 ($16,400 minus $8,500). A need-based grant may also be applied to the balance.

For students enrolled in evening or weekend session, tuition is already discounted. Therefore, students in these sessions are not eligible for Bloomfield College need-based grants or scholarships. Neither are part-time students. However, as upper class students, they may be eligible for Bloomfield College retention grants or scholarships. Students in the evening and weekend session may be eligible for federal and state need-based grants. The college also accepts tuition reimbursement benefits. Payment plans are also available.

Loans

If you need a loan, we make low-interest federal student loans available. You will begin paying the loan back six months after you graduate. We also have low-interest federal parent loans for parents who wish to borrow. If you have a 2.8 GPA, your parents can receive an interest-free Bloomfield College Federal Parent Loan (PACE) for up to four years for $10,000 each year while you are enrolled in the college.
