What is the Educational Opportunity
Fund Program?
The Educational Opportunity Fund
(EOF) Program is a comprehensive
support program funded by the State
of New Jersey that provides academic
and financial assistance for New
Jersey residents to attend college.
The program targets students from
academically and financially challenged
backgrounds who show academic promise
and have the desire to succeed
but do not meet the college's regular
admission criteria.

to connect students to all areas
of the Bloomfield College campus
community;

in addressing the needs of EOF
students and developing strategies
to address those needs;
- To prepare students to face
new challenges with hope, optimism,
and self-confidence.
Eligibility
To be considered for the EOF program,
a student must provide appropriate
information and meet certain criteria:
- Must submit a Bloomfield College
Application, high school transcript,
two letters of recommendation,
and SAT or ACT scores for admission.
- Must be a legal resident of
New Jersey for at least one year.
- Must be from a low-income family
demonstrating historic poverty
and meet the financial guidelines
established by the State of New
Jersey .
- Must be enrolled as a full-time
college student.
- Must be interviewed by a member
of the EOF staff.
- Must participate in an intense
six-week residential summer program.
Financial
Aid
The EOF Program provides financial
support for college tuition for
eligible students. A preliminary
decision will be made regarding
eligibility after the students
completes the Bloomfield College
EOF Program Preliminary Financial
Information Form.
Students must also complete the
Free Application for Federal Student
Aid (FAFSA) and the Bloomfield
College Application for Financial
Assistance by the recommended deadline
of April 1 st . A copy of the family's
federal income tax return or a
letter from the agency providing
support of the family is also required.

Support
Services
The EOF program provides personal,
academic, career, and financial
counseling. In addition, the program
provides the following support
services to assist students in
their personal and professional
development.
Alumni Mentoring Program (AMP)
The Alumni Mentoring Program provides
mentorship for the EOF first-year
students. The students will be
partnered with an EOF alumni mentor
in their field of study, who will
aid the student's maturity by providing
friendship, guidance, and networking
possibilities for career success.
Students will meet with their mentor
at least three times per semester.
Career Action Program (CAP)
CAP is a resource service that
provides career development support
for all EOF students beginning
in their freshman year and continuing
throughout their college experience.
First-Year Development Program
(FDP)
FDP is specifically designed to
enhance the experiences of first-year
college students and to develop
strategies to positively influence
those experiences. A series of
workshops and group activities
are conducted each semester to
connect first-year students to
the institution academically, socially,
and personally
Motivational Study Support Program
(MSSP)
MSSP provides a weekly group study
session for first-year students.
Students are encouraged to strengthen
their academic support methods
by utilizing the “team” study
approach system. Professional tutors
are available at the study sessions
to provide academic assistance.
Probationary Student Support
Program (PSSP)
PSSP provides academic support
services for students who are having
academic difficulty. Students are
provided with workshops and additional
tutoring. Workshops include self-esteem,
time-management, note-taking, study
skills, etc.
Summer Enrichment Program
The Six Week Summer Program serves
as the student's official induction
into Bloomfield College's EOF experience.
The Summer Program includes courses
in the following areas: English,
Math, Computers and Creative Arts
and Technology (CAT). This rigorous
academic program provides students
with the preparation needed to
succeed at the college level. The
summer experience also includes
an evening component to educate
students in the areas of diversity,
coping/adjusting to college life,
male/female relationships, empowerment
and community involvement.
The EOF staff looks forward to
the Summer Enrichment Program that
promises to be educational, inspirational,
fun, and an altogether a rewarding
experience.
Tutorial Support Program (TSP)
Free tutorial services are provided
for all students who may need additional
academic assistance. Tutoring is
available in all major subject
areas.
