Teachers Shape Lives

Master's in Special Education

The 40-credit Master of Arts in Special Education program is designed to provide licensed teachers the necessary skills and knowledge to teach in a self-contained special education classroom, work in a related field in special education, or teach in a partnership in an inclusive education setting.  The goal of this program is to give teachers the skills to effectively teach students with disabilities with a focus on autism.

The Masters of Arts in Special Education does allow those candidates who possess a CEAS or a STANDARD teaching certificate to earn the Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) endorsement. A core sequence of courses (6 CUs = 24 credits) fulfills the New Jersey Department of Education requirements for the TOSD Endorsement.
