During the Summer of 2012 the library will be undergoing extensive renovation. Many of books in the library will be in storage for at least part of the Summer. If the book you need is not on the shelf, please ask library staff and we will do our best to get it for you. Other options for borrowing books are:

1) Inter-library loan (It might take up to two weeks for a book you request to arrive.)

2) Borrowing books from the Dana Library at the Rutgers campus in Newark. To do this you will need to ask at the Bloomfield College Library main desk for a REBL sticker to put on your college ID.

The Bloomfield College library manifests and embodies the spirit of the College. The exterior captures the ambiance of the historic district by duplicating the decor, color tone, and designs of the buildings and houses within this district. The interior captures our mission to cultural and racial diversity: the green paint on the walls brings to mind the lush tropical forests from South America and Africa, the carpet on the middle of the first floor is rich with the red from the Caribbean sun, the green from the mountains, the light colors of island flowers and the furniture is made with African wood and the design combine African styles with European touches.

The Library houses a collection of 70, 000 volumes which contain unique items such as the Larry Qualls Collection of theater and film monographs and studies, multicultural studies, and Native American comics. A state of the art facility, the Library exhibits artworks and creative works of students enrolled in the Creative Arts and Technology Division. The Library subscribes to 600 printed journals and fifty databanks which allow students to read thousands of electronic journals.

The Bloomfield College Library, which is used and visited by 2,000 students during the semester, is a popular meeting space for students, faculty, alumni, and friends of the college.
