This course is designed to prepare students to effectively teach students with mild to moderate high-incidence disabilities, including specific learning disabilities, mild intellectual disabilities, behavioral and emotional disabilities, and speech or language impairments providing appropriate supports in general education. Corse participants will learn to plan, adapt, and implement effective instruction and assessment to facilitate academic achievement for students in need of supports in general education and to design effective Individual Education Programs (IEPs) including preparing students for transition. Review and critique research to support selection of instructional strategies used to teach students with high incidence disabilities.
