This course introduces students to the field of special education and provides the history of the field and to the federal and state regulations and laws mandating special services to individuals with disabilities. The process of special education, from child find to placement in the least restrictive environment, is presented. It also introduces the students to the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) as the bases to the implementation of effective teaching strategies.
