Guest Information

When:  Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 9:30 a.m.  Guest check-in begins at 7:00 a.m. Guest seating begins at 8:00 a.m.  Guests must check in before lining up for guest seating.

Where:  College Quadrangle

Length of Ceremony:  Approximately two (2) hours

Guest Tickets and Keepsake Announcements: Tickets are required – Keepsake announcements will not be accepted as tickets for admission. Each student on the official graduation list is entitled to receive five (5) guest tickets and  keepsake announcements. The graduating student does not need a ticket. Lost or stolen guest tickets will not be replaced. No additional guest tickets will be available.

Tickets are required for all guests 2 yrs and older. Children under the age of 2 are expected to sit on the lap of a parent or guardian. Special seating will be arranged for guests in wheelchairs with validated tickets (please see Guests in Wheelchairs).

Guest Seating: Guest check-in begins at 7:00 a.m.  Each guest must present an admission ticket in exchange for an admission wristband which will allow them access to guest seating on the Quad. Check-in tables will be located near the main parking lot on Liberty Street, behind Clee Hall on Austin Place, and near Seibert Hall on Liberty Street. Seating on the Quad is on a first-come, first served basis beginning at 8:00 a.m. Please note that guests must check in before lining up for guest seating.  This is an outdoor event that will be held rain or shine. No strollers, carriages, carriers or any other equipment for transporting babies or toddlers will be allowed on the Quad. This is a safety issue.

Overflow Space and Additional Viewing Options: Guests without tickets are welcome to view the ceremony in Van Fossan Theatre. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis and admission to the Theatre will be capped when we reach maximum capacity for the space. Guest Seating will be begin at 8: a.m. A live webcast of the ceremony can also be viewed at The link will appear thirty minutes prior to the ceremony.

Guests in Wheelchairs: Validated tickets required. Seating for guests in wheelchairs will be available in a reserved section under the tent.  Due to limited space, the reserved seating area is restricted to the person in the wheelchair and one guest. Additional members of your party should sit in the general seating area.

Please note: Total number of tickets, including validated tickets for guests in wheelchairs, will not exceed five (5).

Etiquette: While Commencement is a celebration of our students’ accomplishments, it is also a formal academic event to be conducted with dignity and decorum.  Guests are asked to remain in their seats for the duration of the ceremony and to refrain from blocking aisles and passageways by attempting to greet or take photos of the graduates.  Cellular phones and pagers must be turned off for the duration of the ceremony to help ensure that all guests can hear and enjoy the Commencement activities.

Restroom Facilities: There will be restrooms available in the Student Center located across from the main parking lot on Liberty Street and there will be portable facilities next to Seibert Hall and Clee Hall.

Campus Bookstore: The Campus Bookstore will have extended hours on Commencement Day for last-minute gifts from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  The Campus Bookstore will be selling flowers the day of Commencement.  You can purchase flowers prior to Commencement and have them ready for pick up that day.  If interested, click here: Bloomfield College Commencement Flowers
