FAQ

What the Graduating Student Needs to Know:

The graduating student needs to log-in to their MyBloomfield Portal (click here) to have access to all of the information they will need to participate in Commencement.

Diploma:

If a graduating student does not attend Commencement, diplomas will be available for pick-up from the Registrar's Office (229 Liberty Street) starting Monday, May 23, 2016. If the graduating student would like their diploma mailed, the student should contact the Registrar's Office at 973-748-9000 ext. 1221.

Regalia (Cap and Gown):

Academic regalia (cap, gown) is required.

Tickets are Required:

Yes, all guests 2 yrs. and older will require an admission wristband. Please note that admission wristband allocation is based upon the actual number of students participating in the ceremony and capacity of the venue.  While we would like to issue an unlimited number of wristbands for friends and relatives, we must accommodate some guests for all of our students.

Guest Seating:

Each guest must be wearing an admission wristband which will allow them access to guest seating on the Quad.  Seating on the Quad is on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 8:30 a.m. This is an outdoor event that will be held rain or shine. No strollers, carriages, carriers or any other equipment for transporting babies or toddlers will be permitted on the Quad. Balloons and view-obstructing signs/banners will not be permitted on the Quad. These are safety issues.

Overflow Space and Additional Viewing Options:

Guests without admission wristbands are welcome to view the ceremony in Van Fossan Theatre. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis and admission to the Theatre will be capped when we reach maximum capacity for the space. Guest seating will begin at 8 a.m. We will also show a live webcast of the ceremony at www.bloomfield.edu/academics/commencement/live-stream. The live link will appear thirty minutes prior to the ceremony.

Guests in Wheelchairs:

Validated wristbands required.
Seating for guests in wheelchairs will be available in a reserved section under the tent.  Due to limited space, the reserved seating area is restricted to the person in the wheelchair and one guest. Additional members of your party should sit in the general seating area.
Graduating students requiring seating for guests in wheelchairs should indicate same on the Application for Commencement.
