Our behavior not only affects our own lives, but the lives of those around us.
As active members of soci ety, we are all
interconnected. How then do we educate,
govern and conduct ourselves so that the
majority of society benefits, particularly
today when cultural differences abound?
If you can envision yourself working to answer these questions,
and if having a positive impact on society while pursuing a fascinating
career sounds intriguing to you, then the Social and Behavioral
Sciences division at Bloomfield College has the major that’s right for you.
As a social and behavioral sciences student, you can select from three majors - political science, psychology or sociology. You will complete a rigorous course of study that will prepare you for careers in the human services, and/or to pursue graduate work in related fields like teaching, counseling, social work, urban and social planning, public administration or law. Students can elect to pursue concentrations in criminal justice, general political science, general psychology, general sociology, human services studies, public administration, and public policy to create the program that matches their interests and future goals.
College grads with a bachelor’s degree in political science earn an average of $50,800, about $2,500 more than other bachelor’s degree holders.
The top three occupations of graduates with a B.A. in psychology are: top- and mid-level managers and executives; sales, including retail; and social workers.
The average annual salary for all sociologists in the federal government is about $53,000.
Here you will find an overview of the social and behavioral sciences
programs. Each will help you acquire the broad knowledge and
critical thinking skills you need to make a lasting contribution in your
chosen field.
