If you have technical or creative talents, there’s a vast and growing universe of opportunities open to you in both traditional and emerging fields. Artists, designers and programmers proficient in the latest digital tools are in demand as never before. So too are musicians, game developers, writers and animators with the skills to sell ideas and tell the stories the world wants to hear.

The Creative Arts and Technology division at Bloomfield College is the place to explore creative careers, particularly those in the digital world. Whatever path you choose, your course of study will include hands-on experience and internship opportunities with the industry’s leading companies. Our program’s practical emphasis will ensure that you are fully prepared and qualified to excel in these exciting, highly competitive fields.

Video games are estimated to be a $31 billion-a-year industry worldwide

Recent U.S. statistics put median annual earnings of salaried multimedia artists and animators at $50,36

Demand for web site development and graphics for mobile technologies will increase hiring of multimedia artists and animators

The median annual earnings of salaried fine artists, including painters, sculptors and illustrators, are $38,060; sixty-three percent are self-employed

Creative Arts and Technology (CAT) is an interdisciplinary arts and technology program that combines traditional arts training and the latest technological advances.

As a CAT major, you will take a sequence of courses that will introduce you to the CAT disciplines. Ultimately you will concentrate in one of these areas, becoming immersed in your chosen field and building your knowledge and skills as a
creative professional and creating friendships within this 300-student Division.

CAT offers minors in Art History, Game Developing Programming, Music Technology and Theatre.

In addition to the CAT bachelor’s degree, there are also certificate programs available in Digital Media, Game Development and Game Programming. These are shortened courses of study, which enhance your knowledge and demonstrate your expertise to prospective and current employers.

CAT International
The CAT program is rapidly expanding its reach beyond the United States by creating rewarding study and work possibilities for our students all over the world. Global Studies courses have taken students to Korea, Japan, France, Italy and Spain. CAT offers a student study abroad exchange with Bournemouth University, England.
