Nursing seniors pinned for their profession

The graduating nurses in the class of 2013 received their pins the day before commencement to signify their entry into the honorable service of their chosen profession.

Thirty BSN candidates and three of the five RN to BSN candidates attended the ceremony in which each senior was pinned by the chair of the Frances M. McLaughlin Division of Nursing, Dr. Neddie Serra.

Several awards were given. The Nurse with a Heart Alumni Award was given by Helene McKnight N’84 to Kedisha Lloyd N’13. The Florence Nightingale/Nursing Faculty Award was given by Professor Lori Ann Palmieri to Thelisha Gray N’13 and Erin O’Sullivan RN, N’13. The Mary Kuyper Award for Community Service was given by Dr. Serra to Kripa Patel N’13.

Five of this year’s graduating nurses were inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. Thelesha Gray N’13, Jessica Leandre N’13, Valerie Miller-Mollo N’13, Kripa Patel N’13, and Katie Sanchez N’13 became members at a joint ceremony at William Paterson State College last December.
