Bloomfield College is an independent, four-year, coeducational college, founded in 1868. The College's mission is to prepare students to attain academic, personal and professional excellence in a multicultural and global society.
Located in Bloomfield, New Jersey, a suburban residential community just 15 miles from New York City, the College attracts a geographically diverse resident and commuter population. The 11-acre tree-lined campus is easily reached by train, bus, or car. The nearby Meadowlands Sports Complex, Liberty Science Center, and PNC Bank Arts Center offer exciting events year round. Beautiful beaches of the Jersey shore and first-rate ski areas are only an hour from Bloomfield.
Accredition
Bloomfield College is chartered by the State of New Jersey and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Its academic programs are approved by the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education. The nursing program at Bloomfield is accredited by Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and the New Jersey Board of Nursing. The Division of Education is accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC). Bloomfield College is related to the Presbyterian Church, USA, through the Synod of the Northeast and is a member of the Association of Presbyterian Colleges and Universities.
Admission
Admission to Bloomfield College is based on school records, test scores, activities, essay, interview, and recommendations. 51% of students are accepted from all applications and 59% are accepted from completed applications. 80% of freshmen complete the academic year in good standing.
Freshmen Admissions
High school preparation:
Transcripts must indicate the completion or expected completion of at least 14 academic units, which should include: English, Mathematics, History and Laboratory Science. Foreign Language is strongly recommended but not required.

SAT I or ACT, SAT I preferred
Application Deadlines:
$40 fee. Application fee may be waived for applicants with need. Recommended application dates are March 15th for Fall semester and December 1st for Spring semester.
Tuition, Scholarships & Financial Aid
90% of freshmen, 90% of continuing students receive some form of aid. Aid is distributed as: 72% grants, 24% student loans, 2% parental loans, 2% jobs. 228 enrolled freshmen were judged to have need, 228 were offered aid. Academics
Academic Program Profile:
Semester calendar. Summer session available. Advanced placement is an option. Special assistance is available to incoming or continuing students who may have remedial or tutorial needs through academic foundations courses in communication skills, mathematics reviews, reading and writing, and mathematical and quantitative reasoning skills.
Academic Requirements:
Freshmen must earn minimum GPA of 2.00 to continue in good standing. 65% of freshmen return for sophomore year. Students must declare major by end of second year.
Graduation requirements:
132 credits for bachelor's (48 in major). Most students are required to take courses in English, arts/fine arts, computer science, history, humanities, mathematics, philosophy/religion, science (biological or physical), social science.

Distinctive and/or collaborative degree offerings:
Joint B.S./D.C. degree programs with 12 accredited colleges of chiropractic; 5 year programs in conjunction with the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey in medical technology, cytotechnology, and toxicology. In connection with the New Jersey Institute of Technology, students have the opportunity to receive a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Bloomfield College and a M.S. in Information Systems from NJIT.
Study abroad sites:
Wroxton College of Fairleigh Dickinson University (England). Bloomfield is a member of the Consortium for International Studies, which provides opportunities for study in eighteen European, African, Asian, and South American countries. Student Life Over 30 different organizations are available, focusing on various aspects of student life — professional, ethnic, volunteer, academic, and artistic. Our distinctive Arts-As-Catalyst program includes a theatre ensemble; student circus troupe; art gallery; visits to museums, galleries, and performances; poetry readings; and contests.
Residence Life:
Housing options include traditional dormitories, suite-style residence hall, and theme houses. Commuter Students: Many Bloomfield College students come from a distance of 20 miles or less. We provide study areas, lounges, and refreshments and snacks for commuter students. Commuter meal plans are available. Our Commuter Breakfast Program brings together students and administrators for discussions on topics of interest.
Technology-driven Campus:
375 computers are available for use in computer centers, classrooms, and the library. All computers are connected to the campus network and the Internet, with wifi capabilities across campus.
